A Very Special Bakery in Lawrenceville, Georgia
The Bakery is named: Special Kneads and Treats
In a small town of about 29, 000---Lawrenceville, Georgia, a wonderful gift was given to a child. In 2014, a small bakery opened that specializes in cupcakes. Cupcakes in every flavor probably that you could ever want are available including square ones. Today they offer cakes and cheesecakes in addition to cupcakes as well as other treats.
The bakery is now operating in the ‘black’ after being open such a short time.
One of the owners spoke about the experience and said they are incredibly blessed to have the success they have had.
Special needs...what does that mean to you?
Mentally challenged, physically challenged, having a terminal illness, and more??
In fact it is all of those. It is someone who has needs that are just what the name implies, special.
My grandson, shown in the first photo, has been special needs all of his life. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer at age 8 and is living today!!! So, we do know what this can mean for a family.
It does not mean, however, that some of them, many of them, cannot go on to have jobs and live on their own.
For some it is more difficult than it is for others.
There is one family that has stepped up to the plate.
A Bit About the Video
This video is a sister who is interviewing her sister who has special needs. The sister who is being interviewed is living on her own and has a job.
You can feel her excitement and sense of well being during the interview.

This will make it easy to find
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
— Leo BuscagliaWhat Would YOU Do for Your Child? The Answer to that Seems Simple Enough
Too many days begin with news that is gloom and doom, sadness and horror. It smacks us in the face as we turn to an online news provider or as we turn on the tv or radio…there it is.
The headlines are sadly, rarely, something positive and upbeat.
Whose fault is it? Is it we, the consumers, who wish to read and know every horrid thing that is happening globally including what is happening within miles of our home?
One day perhaps we will have a chat on that topic. But for now...a positive, upbeat story to share. This is the type of story we should read every single day.
When our children have special needs, we have decisions to make and choices that will affect each member of the family.

Finding Her Joy
A Bakery for Their Son
He went on to add that it was not for financial gain that this place was opened.
They opened this bakery because their adult son had aged out of the educational system.
And they wanted him to have something to do, a job and maybe his life’s work.
Their bakery was opened with that in mind.
Their son, Bradley, works there and at age 24 he is earning his own money.
This story could end right here and it would leave you feeling uplifted perhaps.
Sunday....CLOSED
But that is not the end of this story.
Nine other handicapped young adults are also employed there. The workers are paired with one of the family members or with a volunteer. How could you go wrong with a 'partnership' like that?
The link go their website is provided:
http://specialkneadsandtreats.com/
On their page where it lists the hours they are open it says
"Sunday: Closed for God and family"
That pretty much says it all about this remarkable family.
